Golfing nearby Scart House

South Kerry is a mecca for golf enthusiasts and the county hosts some of the world’s finest courses. There are four golf courses nearby Scart House, including the world famous Waterville Links Golf Course.

Waterville Links Golf Course is Ireland’s number 1 links course and just a 20 minute drive from the front door of Scart House (22km/13.5 miles). Boasting stunning views across Ballinskelligs Bay, this is one (or many!) round/s of golf you’ll never forget! The course is frequented by pros, so you never know who you’ll bump into and the newly renovated club is jaw-dropping. Worth a visit in itself.

Book your tee time here (2020 green fees are €250 per person) and while you’re there, don’t forget to stop by the award-winning 1889 Bar & Restaurant serving fine Irish cuisine by international chef Rob O’Mahony.

The Ring of Kerry Golf Course hosts a unique hybrid course of heathland and parkland designed by course architects Eddie Hackett and Ron Kirby. It is a world-class course in a stunning setting that is favoured by locals. Turn left out of the gate at Scart House and follow the Ring of Kerry for 35km (22 miles) towards the beautiful town of Kenmare. You’ll find the course perched above the Kenmare Bay. Book your tee time here (Green fees are generally €110 per person) and leave a little time for visiting the renowned Greens Restaurant & Bar for locally-sourced seafood and beautiful views over a pint of Guinness.

Parknasilla 12-hole golf course (17km/10.5 miles from Scart House) is situated in the 500-acre grounds of the stunning Parknasilla Resort. Don’t shun this course for its lack of six holes – it is surely one of the most beautiful short courses in the world. And green fees are very reasonable at €30 or a weekly two player fee of €160. Request a time here or call +353646675600 – there is plenty of capacity so it’s a great choice also for a last-minute round. And definitely don’t miss dinner at one of our favourite restaurants, Pygmalion. Fine dining overlooking the Kenmare Bay just a stone’s throw from the water’s edge. What could be better?

Just outside of the town of Kenmare – at the head of Kenmare Bay – is Kenmare Golf Club (40km/25 miles), designed by the late great Eddie Hackett. As is a theme for Kerry’s golf courses, this club boasts beautiful views over Kenmare Bay and the surrounding mountains and is perfect for players of all levels.
